MARLY-SUR-ARROUX | SAÔNE-ET-LOIRE
Transformation of a former canteen into a multi-activity room
The layout is based on a simple observation of our workshop: too much to be "versatile", "easy to maintain", "resistant", the layout of the communal rooms that we know often results in a tiled floor. 30x30, a 60x60 slab ceiling and equipment with "robust" dimensions.
Which too often makes them impersonal and characterless. Although "practical", they are generally not a pleasant setting for family or friends reunions, and a sad background to our souvenir photos.
We therefore thought of this room as the large living room of the villagers where we would find our guests "like at home" simply in more spacious.
With a very modest budget, we chose an essential renovation, choosing noble, robust and genuine materials by interpreting them on a few architectural elements: highlighting the openings with oak frames, taming the space by designing custom-made furniture used as cloakrooms and storage for associations, dress the space with copper interior pendant lights, giving off a warm light in the evening, innovate by creating a micro-cement floor covering giving a modern character to the part and greatly facilitating its maintenance.
